In celebration of Earth Day, we here at Latis have created a list of botanically based products to use around your home. Which are not only cost effective and easy to make, but also environmentally friendly too!
When Life gives you lemons, make cleaning products.
Lemons are an unsung hero for cleaning around the home, and make a great addition to homemade, environmentally friendly products.
All-purpose cleaner: Tightly packed citrus peels + ¾ white vinegar + ¼ water (This is best left to infuse in a sunny spot for two weeks to really take full advantage of the citrus oil!) Exercise caution when using on natural stone
Dish soap: Castile soap + tea tree oil + lemon oil.
Wood Polish: ¾ olive oil + ¼ white vinegar + lemon oil
Other alternatives:
Stainless Steel Cleaner: White vinegar + 3 baking soda (until a paste consistency) + lavender oil
Hob Cleaner: Baking Soda + water (until a paste consistency) + sage oil
For sticky residue: Baking soda + Coconut Oil
Daily Shower Spay: ¾ water + ¼ liquid castile soap + lemon oil
During any cleaning (even that using natural products) it is important to take good care of your hands, and there is no better method then a botanically one made at home.
Hand Cream: Rosemary oil + 1 cup of olive oil + aloe vera gel + fresh lavender or patchouli leaves
